Oregon Coast Trail Part 4 - Oswald West to Nehalem Bay
Friday 2/23/24:
One of my hiking goals is to completely hike the Oregon Coast Trail in segments. Friday, I was able to complete another 12 mile section which included climbing over Neahkahnie Mountain. I arranged transportation with Daniel at Pacific Taxi https://pacifictaxiservices.com. Daniel met me at the Nehalem Bay State Park day use area at 7:30 AM. Daniel took me to the Oswald West State Park parking area and dropped me off.
The suspension bridge over Necarney Creek was destroyed by some logs falling on it, so I rock hopped over and headed up the other side.
Soon I was at the top of Neahkahnie Mountain, with a wonderful view! I had a quick hot lunch with a view, and then headed down the hill, into Manzanita, and back to my car. It was about 6 hours of hiking on a beautiful February day.
